1. This is a fix of shnid 21923 where my Win98 machine w/ZA2
was on it's last leg. The channels on that source flew all over the place.
2. This differs from shnid 142 (Masse) in that there is no digital noise during Bertha, no dropout in Drums, no dropout at the beginning of the 2nd Other One, and no noise during the final 2 minutes of Wharf Rat.
3. Consistent with other copies, Casey Jones has a skip ~4 minutes in.
4. This time I left out the China Cat->IKYR, Tennessee Jed, and Jack
Straw patches. These can be dropped in from the Europe 72 CD. Buy it if
you don't own it. I skipped these track numbers for easy re-naming later.

Great; not my favorite of the tour.

A top show from a top tour
...some will say the top show from the top tour. There are so many great ones from the tour - I'll put in for top 5 of tour, but also top 50 of all time. One of the longest shows of the tour @ over 4 hours (w/breaks) yet in one of the smallest venues of the tour @1900 - the storied Olympia, that also saw one of Zep's top shows and countless others. Official version reviewed.
First Set. From the start, almost every song of the long set is in a top version. The band was on - like, supernaturally. So good that Parisians left the theater after the set thinking they'd seen a terrific concert. Me & My Uncle may be the best ever. Sugaree is still embryonic and the "merely average" Black Throated is the "low ebb". China Cat>Rider is astounding. The China is the undubbed version but the Rider is the version from Europe '72 because that's all that exists. Beat it On Down the Line-9 is perfect and the whole band is hot for He's Gone; Keith, Billy, Phil are ON. Jer loses "two rounds"! It has the bridge but still not the ending.They're playing very tight for Playin' (beware Donnaskreech™ and blip @8:39 ). On the undubbed version of Tennessee Jed, the passing train vocal is not fixed, and it's still an A+ version. Good Lovin' is great - in places - and Casey Jones has some of the only shakiness of the set. This one's a ride.
Second Set. Almost as consistently good as the first set right from the start. When they get to Truckin', it's good, but not at the height of several others on the tour. They feel around quite a lot on a few songs, waiting, and this is a very noodly The Other One. Even when Phil launches the rumble he has to fish Jerry and Bob; s'cool though - the whole thing is 35min (a record 43min, if you count the ace Bobby McGee wedged in) though not a tour top version. It's also not a very colorful Wharf Rat. For Jack Straw, only overdubbed versions exist. The official box set version has a different mix than the original Europe '72 and, because Jer was recorded directly onto the track, you can hear ghost vox from Bobby. Sugar Magnolia isn't quite like the following night, but Jer's wah is cool. The rest is just amazing. Check Billy throwing 32nds Tom rolls on Not Fade Away. Goin' Down the Road is happy and soaring with i-n-s-a-n-e Jer fills. Bobby does the hoarse rasp back into NFA but they make up for it with another classic One More Saturday Night - their hit single tour centerpiece. Jer nods to Berry and adds classic double bends at super tempo. One of the best 2nd sets from the tour.
1st Set: A+ 2nd Set: B+
Overall = 5 Stars
Too many. Surely you have this entire show.
SOURCES: The samaritano.29082 looks like the latest upgrade, and of course there's the official version. Tennessee & China Cat>Rider, are on the original Europe '72, but with overdubbed vocals and with the latter sped up. Jack Straw is also on the original album, with Jerry's vox overdubbed and lots of reverb (only Bobby sang the verses in Paris). So, Rider & Jack Straw originals are unavailable. Sugaree & Greatest Story are on Europe '72 v.2.

Great show several versions all 5
Casey Jones has a glitch around 4:25-4:30 on all copies, and nobody has mentioned it? The Other One sandwiching Me and Bobbie McGee is awe inspiring. I was in Paris that July, 1972 and the freaks were showing me their ticket stubs. Bien fait, les Dead!
